Important Notice

I am writing to share an important update regarding my medical practice.  Beginning 12/13/25,  I will be closing Blue Ridge Internal Medicine (BRIM).  The good news is that on 2/16/26,  I will resume seeing patients as part of Centra Medical Group.  All of my current patients are warmly invited to continue their care with me.  I will remain at the same address, keep the same staff and possibly add additional support staff.  I will do my best to honor all appointments scheduled on or after 2/16/26. 

Over the last 5 years it has become increasingly challenging to sustain a solo medical practice.  The growing burdens imposed by insurance companies coupled with diminishing reimbursements and frequent payment denials have truly diminished the joy of practicing medicine and caring for you.  But now I am excited for the future.  By partnering with Centra Medical Group, I will get much needed administrative and nursing support.  This will allow me to better focus on what is most important--   your health!

I have a lot of information to share with you regarding your health care during this transition period between December and February. 

BRIM Closure:  The office will be officially closed on 12/13/25.  I will NOT be able to offer any medical advice, medication refills, or medical care between 12/13/25 - 2/15/26.

Appointments:  I will strive to honor appointments before 12/13/25 and after 2/15/26.  If you have an appointment between these dates, they will be automatically cancelled and we will reach out to you to reschedule them.  

Medication Refills:  If you take any prescription medications, please check that each has refills to last until March.  If you need refills, send me a request before 12/13/25 listing each medication by name and the pharmacy to send them to.  To prevent delays, do not forget to include your full name and date of birth.  Please do not ask me to "refill all of your medications" but instead list each one that you actually need.  Do not combine multiple family members onto a single request.  Rather, each request should be for a single patient.  If you have medications that are scheduled or controlled (such as pain medications or sleeping medications), send a request for these and I will inform your pharmacist to refill them through February 2026.  We prefer you make your requests by email to BRIM@Laptopdoc.net.   If you do happen to run out of medications prior to 2/16/26, you will need to be seen by another prescriber, as I will be physically and legally unable to prescribe until 2/16/26.

What if I get sick between 12/13/25 and 2/16/26:  If you require health care during these dates, you have several options based on how sick and how urgent your problem is.  If you have a medical emergency, call 911 and go to the Emergency Room.  If your problem is not an emergency you can be seen by another health care provider at Centra Medical Group Nationwide located at 125 Nationwide Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.  You can call 434-200-3908 to schedule this appointment.  Tell them that you are a patient of Dr. Miller and need to be seen.   Note that this provider will not yet have access to your BRIM medical records. 

Health Insurance Coverage:  Centra Medical Group accepts most health insurance plans including Medicare.  However, Centra facilities will NOT be included in Humana’s Medicare Advantage network effective January 1, 2026.   If you currently have insurance through Humana Medicare and want to receive care from Centra, please review your options during the open enrollment period from October 15 – December 7, 2025.  You can talk with your insurance broker to find a plan that works best for you.  Centra will be participating with traditional Medicare and many other Medicare plans.  If you remain with Humana Medicare Advantage, you will need to find a provider within their network.  To learn more, visit centrahealth.com/humana.

Scheduling New Appointments After 2/16/26:  If you would like to schedule an appointment with me for a date on or after 2/16/26, please reference my web site at WWW.Laptopdoc.net for updates on how and when you can schedule an appointment.  I do not yet have an active office phone number through Centra Medical Group.  However, my physical address will remain the same at 1922 Thomson Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501.

Billing Questions:  We will send final billing statements at the end of December.  If you have an outstanding balance, you can send paper checks to Blue Ridge Internal Medicine, and our address will remain unchanged.  If you have billing questions, you can call 434-846-4444 and choose option 3.  We will return calls for billing questions only.  My billing specialist, Jeanine, will be working only part time after 12/31/25.

New Patients:  After I reopen in February, I will be able to accept new patients.  If you have family or friends looking for a primary care physician, I will be able to accept them as new providers join my practice location.  You can reference my web site at WWW.Laptopdoc.net for updates on how and when you can schedule these appointments, as I do not yet have an active office phone number through Centra Medical Group.

 

It has been a pleasure to be part of your health care over the years.  While the office of BRIM is closing, I look forward to remaining your primary care provider as part of Centra Medical Group.
